Richard K. Dowd

Principal

Richard K. Dowd graduated from St. Mary’s University of San Antonio Texas with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice in 1978. He received his Law Degree from St. Mary’s University in 1983.  Upon graduation from Law School he joined the firm of Dowd & Dowd, P.C. where he concentrated his practice on personal injury and worker’s compensation. In 1985 he was appointed as an Assistant Public Defender for St. Louis County. He served as an Assistant Public Defender until November of 1987 during which time he tried every class of felony to verdict.

In 1987, Mr. Dowd returned to Dowd & Dowd, P.C. where he is a partner of the firm and has represented both individuals and corporations. Mr. Dowd has tried cases to verdict in the areas of wrongful death, products liability, medical malpractice, malicious prosecution, false arrest and civil rights violations. He has represented corporate clients in the areas of Breach of Contract and Non- Competition. Mr. Dowd also has vast experience in trying Workers’ Compensation cases to Final Award and handles serious criminal matters from misdemeanors to felonies.

Growing up, Mr. Dowd worked as a laborer in factories and for HB Deal Construction. While studying at St. Mary’s University he worked in a halfway house and group homes in the Barrio of San Antonio Texas and upon graduation as a wilderness instructor for an Outward Bound Program designed for delinquent youth. These experiences have given Mr. Dowd a unique perspective of the many sectors that make up our community.
